The Oxford Household provide a recreation of a 15th Century encampment in which the liveried troops of the Earl of Oxford muster and train for battle. The primary fighting unit of the household is the bill block; heavy infantry equipped with polearms. These troops are supplemented by archers and armoured knights.
The troops and non-combatants of the household provide an ongoing display of life in a mediæval camp. Tents, weapons, armour and everyday items will be available for close inspection. Food is prepared, children are cared for and the troops arm for battle.
In the arena or on the battlefield the troops will undertake mediæval drill and combat. Artillery (which correctly includes Longbows and crossbows as well as early handguns) demonstrate period distance weapons.
